Mirror Trap — A Reflection from Midnight Rendezvous

Mirror Trap — A Reflection from Midnight Rendezvous

Some encounters are not meant to introduce us to others… but to ourselves.

In Chronicles—Where Shadows Breathe, the piece “Mirror Trap” from Midnight Rendezvous unfolds like a quiet revelation wrapped in desire, illusion, and truth. At first glance, it feels like attraction. A pull. A moment where one becomes captivated by another’s presence. But as the lines settle in, something deeper begins to surface.

The “stranger” is not entirely foreign. The fire in his eyes is not his own. What feels like fascination quickly becomes reflection. What feels like pursuit becomes realization.

This is where the trap reveals itself.

We are often drawn to what mirrors something within us—our desires, our wounds, our unanswered questions. Like a moth to flame, we move closer, believing we are chasing something external, when in truth, we are confronting something internal. The intensity, the pull, the inability to turn away… it all stems from recognition.

“Mirror Trap” captures that moment of awareness—the shift from illusion to truth. The realization that what captivates us may actually be a reflection of who we are, or who we are becoming. And sometimes, before we can escape that realization, we are forced to sit in it… to feel it… to understand it.

The monarch, vibrant and rare, caught in a web of ecstasy, symbolizes that delicate balance between beauty and entrapment. Freedom exists, but not without awareness. Not without confronting the reflection staring back.

Excerpt from “Mirror Trap”

You turn like the tide of the ocean on this occasional night.
The stranger you needed to see—a stranger black as midnight.
Staring at the torches in his eyes, you are transfixed… drawn to the flames like a helpless moth; you are caught.
But the fire within his eyes was not his…
They were reflections of your own.

💬 Reflection: Have you ever been drawn to someone, only to realize later they were reflecting something within you?

The Present Smells Like a Rose: A Poetic Masterclass in Grace and Resilience

The Present Smells Like a Rose: A Poetic Masterclass in Grace and Resilience by KPC  Some poems don’t ask for attention. They earn it—line by line, breath by breath. In this latest feature from Krafty Page ChronicleS , Vo Thi Nhu Mai delivers a piece that doesn’t just sit on the page. It moves. It carries weight. It reminds you what quiet strength really looks like. “The Present Smells Like a Rose” is not just poetry—it’s presence. A Journey Through the Stanzas The opening doesn’t hesitate. It establishes identity with clarity and intention: “She enters the world with steady light / History learns her footsteps by heart.” That’s not introduction—that’s declaration. This is a woman who doesn’t wait to be recognized. She becomes the standard. “Steady light” isn’t loud, but it’s undeniable. It doesn’t flicker for approval. It remains. Labour, Culture, and Courage The strength in this piece isn’t one-dimensional. It’s layered, ...
