What About Him? Behind Every Strong Father Is a Story Rarely Told

What About Him?

A Father's Day Reflection by Nelly Vee

Today is Father's Day,

and while the world celebrates fathers,

I keep thinking about the men behind the title.

The fathers who carry responsibilities that never seem to end.

The fathers who show up, even when they're tired.

The fathers who love through action more than words.

And I find myself asking...

What about him?

What about the father who learned how to be strong because somebody had to be?

What about the man who carries worries he never speaks about?

The one who protects.

The one who provides.

The one who encourages others while fighting battles nobody sees.

What about him?

He learned that love often looks like sacrifice.

Giving time.

Giving energy.

Giving pieces of himself for the people he loves.

And he does it quietly.

Not for praise.

Not for recognition.

But because that's what fathers do.

The long days.

The sleepless nights.

The responsibility.

The pressure.

The constant expectation to remain strong, even when strength is running low.

But what about him?

Behind strong shoulders lives a heart too.

One that gets tired.

One that gets wounded.

One that carries pain few ever see.

He gave reassurance while needing comfort.

Protection while craving peace himself.

Spent so much time becoming a shelter that he forgot how to ask for shelter.

And slowly, almost invisibly, pieces of him disappeared.

The giver starving while everyone else is fed.

The protector standing guard while his own wounds remain untreated.

Then one day, his voice finally cracks.

Not loudly.

Just honestly.

And suddenly, his emotions become heavier than people know how to carry.

The same man who listened to everyone else's pain finds himself alone with his own.

And something inside him breaks quietly when his hurt becomes inconvenient.

But what about him?

Men bleed emotionally too.

Just because they carry pain quietly doesn't mean it hurts any less.

A father's heart can break.

A father's spirit can grow weary.

A father's soul can become exhausted from carrying the weight of an entire world.

And still, he keeps going.

Still providing.

Still protecting.

Still guiding.

Still loving.

Even when nobody sees the sacrifice.

Even when nobody understands the burden.

Even when nobody says thank you.

So today, on Father's Day, let us remember him.

The fathers who provide.

The fathers who protect.

The fathers who teach.

The fathers who lead.

The fathers who sacrifice.

The fathers who carry responsibilities that never seem to end.

The fathers who wake up every day and choose love through action.

Because behind every strong father is a man who needs kindness too.

A man who needs understanding.

A man who needs grace.

A man whose story matters.

Everybody needed him.

Everybody depended on him.

Today, let him be seen.

Today, let him be heard.

Today, let him be appreciated.

And today, let us finally ask the question that so many fathers have carried in silence.

What about him?

  1. A Small Tribute to Fathers and Men's Mental Health Awareness Month – June 2026

June is a time to honor fathers, father figures, and the countless men who quietly carry responsibilities, burdens, and expectations every day. Behind every strong father is a story often untold—a story of sacrifice, perseverance, love, and resilience.

As we celebrate Father’s Day and recognize Men's Mental Health Awareness Month, let us also acknowledge that strength is not measured by silence. Men face challenges, emotional struggles, stress, loss, and uncertainty, yet many suffer in silence because they feel pressured to always be strong.

Today, we honor the fathers who show up, the men who continue despite hardships, and those who are fighting battles that others may never see. We recognize the importance of mental wellness, open conversations, support systems, and the courage it takes to ask for help.

To every father, grandfather, son, brother, mentor, and friend: your life matters, your voice matters, and your well-being matters.

This June 2026, let us celebrate fatherhood while also encouraging understanding, compassion, healing, and hope for the men in our communities.

Because behind every strong man is a story worth hearing, and every man deserves the support needed to keep writing it.

  2. I never knew my father. No name, no picture, no voice, no memories. For much of my life, I wondered how I could show my children what a father is when I never had one to show me.

As the years passed, I came to understand that fatherhood is not about repeating what you were taught. Sometimes it is about creating what was missing. A father is not defined by what he inherited but by what he chooses to give: love, presence, guidance, protection, and unwavering support.

Every conversation, every sacrifice, every lesson, every word of encouragement, and every moment of simply being there becomes part of the example. I may not know my father's face or remember the sound of his voice, but my children know mine.

Today, my eldest son sent me pictures of himself with his son, my first grandson. The images brought tears to my eyes. Part of me grieved the experience I never had, the father-son moments that were absent from my own life. Yet those tears were also filled with joy.

Looking at those photos, I saw what felt like a photocopy of myself holding his little boy. I saw laughter, happiness, and a bond that stretched across generations. In that moment, I realized that while I may never know the man who fathered me, something greater had happened. The cycle did not continue. It changed.

Sometimes the greatest fathers are the men who had no example at all and chose to become one. My children will never remember the father I never knew. They will remember the father they had in me. And now, as I watch my son embrace his own journey as a father, I see a legacy being written that began with a decision to love despite what was missing.

That is a gift beyond words. — Nelly Vee

The Present Smells Like a Rose: A Poetic Masterclass in Grace and Resilience

The Present Smells Like a Rose: A Poetic Masterclass in Grace and Resilience by KPC  Some poems don’t ask for attention. They earn it—line by line, breath by breath. In this latest feature from Krafty Page ChronicleS , Vo Thi Nhu Mai delivers a piece that doesn’t just sit on the page. It moves. It carries weight. It reminds you what quiet strength really looks like. “The Present Smells Like a Rose” is not just poetry—it’s presence. A Journey Through the Stanzas The opening doesn’t hesitate. It establishes identity with clarity and intention: “She enters the world with steady light / History learns her footsteps by heart.” That’s not introduction—that’s declaration. This is a woman who doesn’t wait to be recognized. She becomes the standard. “Steady light” isn’t loud, but it’s undeniable. It doesn’t flicker for approval. It remains. Labour, Culture, and Courage The strength in this piece isn’t one-dimensional. It’s layered, ...
